I’ve been loving trying out new healthy recipes but have been looking for an ice cream substitute.
I’m allergic to dairy and can’t have lactose free food either which doesn’t leave very many options in the ice cream department.
Until I discovered the beauty of nana ice cream.
It has the same consistency as ice cream but is virtually guilt free and lactose free.
Plus you can make it yourself (without an ice cream maker) in any flavour your heart desires.
Previously I’ve made it with mixed berries but this time I opted for blueberries.
The ingredients and recipe are quite complicated so brace yourselves…
♦ Bananas (better frozen)
♦ Berries or fruit
♦ Coconut milk
♦ Optional: sweetener such as maple syrup, agave syrup etc.
Throw it all in the blender and mix until it’s smooth.
You have nana ice cream.
(My parents and grandmother cannot understand the name, nana ice cream, because for them nana is grandma and since it doesn’t involve dairy it shouldn’t be called ice cream. And so they’re not a fan of the name…But either way, I think it’s a cool name.)
I suggest using frozen banana and frozen berries as it gives a nice thick consistency that you can eat right away.
I froze mine and it took ages to defrost enough to take some out.
Also I used agave syrup and didn’t add enough so I drizzled some maple syrup on top after the first bite.
Perfect way to end a Sunday: yoga, pinning, fresh flowers and a sweet treat.
Have a great start into the week everyone!
