Last weekend Jill and I decided to try out a new bar.
It was really nice for a change to get dressed up and head somewhere fancier than usual.
Situated on the 5th floor of the Swiss Casinos the George Bar & Grill offers stunning views over Zürich.
(Watch their video on the website – reminds me of The Great Gatsby in a way… And is definitely a different way to present your restaurant).
The elevators whisk you straight up into the restaurant.
Where you are greeted by friendly staff who will bring you to your table or if like us you didn’t reserve and just wanted a drink, to the bar.
From what I saw it got quite busy so if you want to ensure you can eat, I’d book a table.
It’s dimly lit, there’s a live piano player and cozy seating… The perfect setting for a romantic date night. Or if you’re looking for a more quite and sophisticated place to enjoy a drink or meal.
The low tables and armchairs make you feel more like you’re sitting in your living room than at a fancy restaurant. Besides the service of course…
We had a look through the menu and it’s very meat heavy so perfect for those of you who loving nothing more than a big juicy steak. ‘Cause I definitely saw a few of those going around! But no worries, I saw a couple of things on there that a non-meat eater would enjoy too.
Their desserts sounded particularly good and if you wanted I’m sure you could have them as a starter, main and dessert…
But we only really had eyes for the drinks menu…
We tried two of their cocktail specials which were both very refreshing and delicious.
I don’t remember what they were exactly but the one on the left was gin based and the one on the right elderflower liquor based.
There’s nothing like a good cocktail.
But we figured we’d try their wines too.
They were nice but we concluded we preferred cocktails and switched back.
There’s a narrow terrace on either side of the restaurant which overlooks the city and must be such a beautiful place to enjoy a cocktail on a summer’s eve.
Damn, now I miss summer even more! It got too cold too quickly for my liking.
However, we decided to brave the cold and go outside, check out the view and snap some photos before heading back inside to finish off our drinks.
I can only recommend my passion fruit cocktail, almost felt healthy with the fresh passionfruit…
We already asked whether they did brunch as it must be spectacular up here on Sunday morning but sadly not yet. Hoping that changes soon George! You would make one mighty fine brunch hotspot.
