In case you were wondering if Zürich needed another rooftop restaurant/bar…
Yes, it does.
Especially if it’s as pretty as Hiltl’s.
Hiltl is the world’s oldest vegetarian restaurant founded in 1898 and has a couple of locations in Zürich.
The newest addition is there rooftop bar/café/restaurant on top of PKZ on Bahnhofstrasse.
As fall is upon us sooner than I’d like, although really we can’t complain as we had the most amazing summer, I’m trying to make the most of the time we can spend outside.
I met up with two friends on Friday night to go see what the hype was all about.
We were whisked up by a glass elevator and stepped into beautifully designed and spacious but cozy space.
The informal setting of small tables, raised tables with bar stools and the green sofa invite customers to come in, chill out and enjoy the food and drinks.
There are long tables outside suitable for big groups, inside less so.
In the middle of the room you have your typical Hiltl buffets loaded with vegetarian (and vegan) food.
Which by the way, is also popular with meat eaters who are often sceptical of vegetarian food. They even have tartare that tastes a lot like the meat version.
The outside terrace is definitely my favourite part.
Tables are nestled between lots of greenery, making you forgot that you’re in the city.
Ask for their apéro special, I had lillet with rasperries and it was so good!
And try their desserts as well, a lot are soya based and therefore vegan.
They had a lot of copper accessories that I madly crushed on such as, coffee tables, bar stools and wire baskets.
Definitely got some home inspiration!
I can recommend going for lunch, coffee, dinner, dessert or just a drink.
Pretty much any occasion…
Oh and if anyone knows where the best place is to get copper home accessories…let me know!
